Week 2: On my own

O'hair, Wiemann

In the book, The Essential Guide to Group Communication, chapter one explains how Communication is important within a group. it gives examples of what are some ups on having an effective communication within a group, and how group communications differ from other types of communications. This chapter was a good introductory chapter specially since we are now starting to be assigned group work. this will come to be very helpful, it is difficult to meet with people when u have an actual class session and schedules conflict, but it seems to be even harder to have to do so for an online course; communication will be vital. the part that stood out about this chapter was also the part where the authors say that "communication requires a medium" the example they used was great to clarify statement (p.5) it talks about how it is not required to have a face to face conversation to have a strong communications with another person. helpful tips on how to get communication started with our new study groups can be taken from this chapter!
